Free, Public Event: On Saturday February 10, 2024, Please Come Visit the Phaff Yeast Culture Collection, and Many Other Collections at UC Davis!

The Phaff Yeast Culture Collection and ten other biological collections at UC Davis are putting on our annual, FREE, public event called Biodiversity Museum Day on Saturday February 10, 2024. The yeast event will be open from 10AM to 2PM in the Brewery, Winery and Food Processing facility. Come hear about our latest discoveries using the over 1,500 yeast species in the Phaff collection, see and smell many species of yeast, look at yeasts under the microscope, taste kombucha and vegemite, tour the teaching winery and the teaching brewery, and talk with students and scientists who are maintaining and performing research using this world-famous yeast collection. Parking is available in the lots near the Mondavi Center, and signs will direct you to the BWF building.

But that's not all! Ten more UC Davis collections of plants, birds, mammals, insects and nematodes at UC Davis work together to put on this event. At other collections, you can handle some dinosaur fossils, see birds of prey up close, learn how chocolate trees grow, and so much more! Note that different collections are open different hours, so please plan ahead. More information is available on the event website: https://biodiversitymuseumday.ucdavis.edu
